It’s a stormy day on Skellig Michael. A puffin family are sheltering in their burrow. The puffin parents tell their puffling that it’s a day for staying inside and telling stories. They tell her about amazing magical creatures – an octopus with wings, a rabbit with a colourful beak and a fish so big it could swallow the moon. Her parents fall asleep and the puffling ventures outside. She gazes out over a cliff and sees … a fish so big it could swallow the moon. She leans out to get a better look, and falls off the cliff onto the back of the enormous basking shark. ‘Don’t worry, I’ll get you home,’ says the basking shark, swimming through the crashing waves. They reach the shore, and the puffling gets off, but … this isn’t her home! It’s an island covered in lots of noisy gannets... |
